SALAME LUNGO1

The Crucolo salami in the Guinness Book of Records

Long-time friends and enthusiasts of traditions, Quirino Purin and Mansuetto Vesco are the protagonists of an incredible feat: in the 1990s, they earned a Guinness World Record for the longest salami in the world, made right at the Crucolo Refuge.

Their first record, achieved in 1994, was for a 27-metre salami. But they didn’t stop there: in 1996, the salami reached an extraordinary length of over 45 metres, and the whole thing was broadcast live on Channel 5 during the programme La Notte dei Guinness (Guinness Night).

Its memory lives on in the cellar of our Crucolo Refuge, telling the story of our connection with tradition and the mountains.
